Thousand Oaks officials will launch a month of free rides along with a fleet of new buses capable of picking up wheelchair-bound passengers.
Beginning Monday, four buses equipped with special hydraulic lifts will begin traveling on three routes between Newbury Park and Westlake Village, said Roy Myers, an assistant civil engineer in the Public Works Department.
Thousand Oaks Mayor Alex Fiore will help launch the fleet at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Oaks Mall shopping center parking lot.
Rides are free from Sept. 17 until Oct. 15. After that, riders will pay 75 cents.
