STANTON : City Asks 10% Cut in Use of Water
To avoid a shortage of water during the current drought, the City Council has requested a voluntary 10% reduction in water use citywide.
The city passed a resolution asking residents and businesses to avoid watering lawns during the hot part of the day, to check for and repair leaks promptly, and to use buckets of water instead of hoses to wash vehicles. Also, restaurants are requested to serve water only on request.
The resolution stated that if voluntary measures do not reduce water use enough, mandatory steps could be implemented.
