Authorities are searching for a man who fired two shots into the ceiling of a bank before escaping with an unknown amount of cash, said Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Richard Olson.
No one was injured in the noon incident at the First Interstate Bank at 26281 Avery Parkway. The man entered the bank, brandished a handgun and “fired a couple of rounds into the ceiling to get their attention,” Olson said. He then took an undisclosed amount of money and escaped on foot, Olson said.
The robber was described as in his early 30s; with brown hair; 5 feet, 10 inches tall; and wearing a light-colored baseball cap, a long-sleeved white shirt, faded jeans and white shoes, Olson said.
