THE SIDELINES : Spurs’ Wingate Accused of Rape

San Antonio Spurs guard David Wingate was free on $10,000 bond today after being charged with the second-degree rape of a 17-year-old Baltimore woman.

The alleged attack occurred Sunday at a Columbia apartment that Wingate recently rented during a stay in the area. Court records say the victim reported that she continuously refused Wingate’s advances while she lay heavily intoxicated on a bedroom floor.

Along with second-degree rape, Wingate is charged with battery and a fourth-degree sexual offense.
