NEWPORT BEACH — American Health Services Corp., an operator of medical imaging centers, said Tuesday that it is opening five new facilities in partnerships with hospitals in Indiana, Alabama, Illinois and Utah.
The Newport Beach-based company said it opened centers within the last month along with Lakeshore Health System in East Chicago, Ind.; Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.; the University of Alabama at Birmingham; Holy Cross Hospital-Chicago, and Holy Cross Hospital-Salt Lake City.
The centers use magnetic resonance imaging technology to produce images of the body for diagnosis of disease and other health problems.
“This is heavy growth for the company,” said Bradley Serwin, American Health’s vice president and general counsel. “It reflects the consummation of a number of deals that were signed at the beginning of the year.”
E. Larry Atkins, president and chief executive, said American Health will now operate 35 imaging centers, a number expected increase to 40 by the end of 1990.
