A youth sports park next to the elementary school being built at the corner of Wheeler Avenue and Via De Mansion in north La Verne received final approval from the City Council on Monday.
Bill Aguirre, acting director of Parks and Human Services, said construction should begin Nov. 15 and be finished by February. The five-acre park will have two baseball diamonds and a practice soccer field. Aguirre said restrooms should be built sometime in 1992 and lighting installed in 1993.
He said the as-yet-unnamed school is scheduled to open in November and will be occupied by students from La Verne Heights School. La Verne Heights will be renovated and reopened in September, 1991.
