CAMARILLO : Planners OK Part of Airport North

Owners of the Mission Gelles I property north of Camarillo Airport and west of Las Posas Road moved a step closer to the development of office and light manufacturing buildings when the Camarillo Planning Commission approved the subdivision of the 51.4-acre parcel.
The project, part of the city’s development plan known as Airport North, will feature early California design and will require Ventura Boulevard to be moved south. The height of the project will be limited so that it will not interfere with the neighboring airport. Once considered as the site for a hotel, the property is now used for the farming of row crops.
The City Council must approve the subdivision of the property into the proposed 16 lots.
In other action Tuesday, the Planning Commission granted a three-month extension to a request by the Lincoln Property Co. for construction of two adjoining truck warehouse and distribution centers east of Flynn Road and north of Mission Oaks Boulevard. The developer asked for the extension to finalize building plans and to get financing for the project.
