Robert (Sonny) C. Rowe; Cabinetmaker

Robert (Sonny) C. Rowe, a longtime cabinetmaker in the San Fernando Valley, has died in Northridge. He was 45.

Rowe died Saturday of cancer, his wife, Sandra Rowe, said.

He was born in Indianapolis on March 26, 1945, and moved to the Valley when he was 11. A graduate of Reseda High School, Rowe worked as an inspector for Weston Hydraulics in Van Nuys before he began making cabinets in the mid-1960s.

He was employed by M&B; Cabinet Co. in Van Nuys for 22 years, until 1988 when his health deteriorated. He also restored bass viols.

In 1980 and 1981, Rowe volunteered as assistant coach for the Giants and other teams in the Canoga Park Little League. He was a bowler and pool player and enjoyed fishing and oil painting, his wife said.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years; son Brian Rowe; parents Robert E. Rowe and Evelyn Rowe; and brother Tim Rowe, all of Reseda.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Chapel of the Oaks at Oakwood Memorial Park, 22601 Lassen St., in Chatsworth. Burial will be private. Lorenzen Mortuary in Reseda is handling the arrangements.
