Imelda Marcos will testify with immunity this week in a federal investigation of allegations that Westinghouse Electric Corp. paid a $17.3-million bribe to the Philippines government, her lawyer said.

Attorney James Linn said Marcos was assured of immunity by Theodore Greenberg, deputy chief of the U.S. Justice Department’s fraud division. Both Greenberg and Westinghouse spokesman Paul Jones declined to comment on the grand jury proceedings.

The panel is to question Marcos on Tuesday. It is probing allegations that Westinghouse bribed the Philippines government to obtain a contract to build a nuclear power plant when Marcos’ late husband, Ferdinand, was president.
