Twin of Infant Found Dead Is Delivered Stillborn
A woman whose newborn son was found dead in a Hollywood motel bathroom Sunday delivered a twin Monday, but the baby was stillborn, police said.
The woman, whose name was not released, was in labor Sunday night in the motel room when paramedics were called.
They arrived about 8:30 p.m. to find one twin had been delivered. The newborn boy’s body was discovered submerged in the toilet, Detective Vivienne Gomez said.
When a second heartbeat was detected in the woman’s womb, paramedics took her to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank, where the second twin was stillborn Monday afternoon.
Gomez said detectives were awaiting an autopsy to determine how the first twin died. The woman had not been arrested.
The woman and her husband had been staying at the motel in the 2000 block of Highland Avenue for a short time when she went into labor.
