Sending a Message
I was appalled upon reading the article about two Orange County deputies being charged with beating and threatening a prisoner in a Maywood jail (“2 O.C. Deputies Charged in Beating of Jail Inmate,” Sept. 15).
This is a gross abuse of power, and if these allegations are substantiated, these “gentlemen” should be sentenced to the maximum. After all, “we” sentence criminals to send messages to future criminals. Why not sentence these men accordingly and send a message to future law enforcement officials who may turn sour?
