E. German Miners Win

EAST BERLIN —
About 480 East German potash miners have ended a hunger strike after the government agreed to provide funds to protect threatened mines and create new jobs, the Economics Ministry said Tuesday.
The miners began their strike last Friday to press the government to draw up retraining programs for the industry and guarantee social security benefits.
