COLLEGE FOOTBALL REPORT WEEKDAY REPORT : USC : Trojans ‘Stunk’ in 31-0 Loss, Smith Says

What happened to USC against Washington?
“I’m not going to stand up here and berate players; I’m not going to stand up here and berate coaches,” Coach Larry Smith said Tuesday. “I’m going to say it was a horrible performance by everybody involved.”
Not surprisingly, only a few Trojans earned passing grades from the coaching staff for their play in the 31-0 loss at Seattle. In fact, only six of the 60 players who made the trip played what he called “winning football.”
“That gives you an idea that, as a team, we just plain and simple stunk,” Smith said. “Our blocking . . . was the worst I’ve seen since I’ve been here, or probably any place. Our tackling wasn’t quite as bad, but it wasn’t very good. We weren’t drilling people.”
