THE SIDELINES : Sanders Wants to Be a Brave
Deion Sanders hasn’t let his release from the New York Yankees discourage his baseball aspirations. And he knows exactly what team he’d like to play for: the Atlanta Braves.
“That way,” he says, “I can play two pro sports in the same city.”
Sanders, placed on irrevocable waivers by the Yankees on Monday, continues in his current role as a cornerback for the Atlanta Falcons.
In an interview on the David Letterman television show Tuesday, Sanders reiterated his desire to play in two professional sports “so I can accumulate as much money as I can. Sports only last so long.”
Any of the other 25 major-league clubs can claim Sanders before waivers expire Thursday afternoon.
