COLLEGE ROUNDUP : UC Irvine Women Shut Out Chapman in Soccer

Kacky Ovrom scored two goals to lead UC Irvine to a 5-0 victory over Chapman College in a nonconference women’s soccer game Wednesday at Chapman.

Michele Braceros also scored twice for the Anteaters. Melissa Pilgrem scored the other goal.

In a nonconference men’s soccer game:

UC San Diego 2, UC Irvine 0--Ryan Nutting and Mike Gerhardt scored second-half goals to lead UC San Diego (8-2-1) over visiting UC Irvine (4-6-1).

Irvine’s Tref Martin had five saves.

In a nonconference water polo game:

Chapman 11, Cal Tech 8--Chapman took a 4-0 lead at Cal Tech and won easily. Both teams substituted freely after Chapman took control of the game early. Cal Tech does not start school until next week so its team had not had many practices before Wednesday. Chapman was led by Mike Reid and Eric Wetzell.
