Mike Stone, who turned a struggling franchise into a stable and profitable operation, resigned as president of the Texas Rangers after being forced out by owners who bought the team last year.
George W. Bush, managing general partner of the Rangers, said General Manager Tom Grieve and Manager Bobby Valentine, both hired by Stone, should not fear for their jobs.
