FULLERTON : Longtime Librarian Johnson Retires

Share

Librarian Carolyn Johnson, who served the city for nearly half a century and raised three daughters--all librarians--has retired.

City Manager William C. Winter, accepting her resignation effective Sept. 28, said Johnson “has been a creative, positive force for so many years. Every Fullerton citizen owes her a huge vote of thanks for all her efforts to make our library one of the finest in the state.”

Johnson, who received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from UC Berkeley, then moved with her husband to Washington. She later received a master’s degree in library science and raised three girls. Their decisions to become librarians happened “without any prodding from me,” she said. “I think they just realized their mother was having a lot of fun in her job.”
