Albon Jacob Esterly, a retired carpenter and longtime Glendale resident, has died in the home he built in the 1920s. He was 99.

Esterly died Sunday of heart failure, said his daughter Katharine Atkinson.

In 1921, he finished building his own two-bedroom home in Glendale.

Esterly was a longtime member and officer of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Glendale and belonged to a Masonic lodge in Johnstown. He also served as business agent for a local carpenters union in Glendale during the late 1950s.
