NEWPORT BEACH : Speak Up, Realtors to Hear Candidates

There will be two more forums this week for City Council candidates running in the Nov. 6 election.
On Wednesday, Speak Up Newport will hold a forum in which all six candidates are expected to take part.
Attending from the 1st District will be incumbent Donald A. Strauss and challenger John Hedges, a Balboa Peninsula resident and commercial airline pilot. Evelyn R. Hart, the incumbent from District 3, and her opponent, Jan Vandersloot, are also scheduled to attend. The other candidates, Clarence J. Turner and Phil Sansone, are unopposed.
The forum is scheduled for 6:15 to 7 p.m. at the Villa Nova restaurant, 3131 W. Coast Highway.
And on Thursday morning, the candidates will gather at an 8 a.m. meeting of the Newport-Mesa Assn. of Realtors at the Newport Dunes State Park Community Center on Back Bay Drive.
