William B. Ellis; Longest-Serving Electoral College Member

William B. Ellis, 89, who was the nation’s longest-serving member in the Electoral College. Ellis was first chosen to represent Montana Republicans in the formal voting for president in 1960. With the exception of 1964, when Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson received the majority of the Montana popular vote, Ellis cast an official ballot in each presidential election through 1988 when he voted for George Bush. On Sunday in Great Falls, Mont., of undisclosed causes.
