Loy Vaught, the second of the Clippers’ two first-round draft choices, agreed to terms Monday on a four-year deal worth about $4 million.

“We’re just waiting for the documents to be drawn and faxed,” said Bob Woolf, Vaught’s Boston attorney. “It should be done (Tuesday). I’m very pleased.”

The No. 13 pick overall, Vaught, a 6-foot-9 power forward from the University of Michigan, is being counted on to boost the Clippers’ rebounding game. He averaged 9.4 rebounds his final two seasons with the Wolverines and has spent the last two months in Los Angeles adding muscle.

“The main reason I came here early was to work with weights and get to know some of the guys,” said Vaught, who has also been playing pickup games at UCLA and local gyms. “I’m around 240 pounds now. In college, I was always around 222. I’ve put on bulk and feel stronger, so now it’s just a matter of learning to carry that on the court. As soon as my stamina develops to match my strength, I’ll be OK.

“I kept stressing to my attorney that I wanted to be in camp for the start and get going on my career. I was pleased when I got the phone call (on the agreement). . . . Now I can focus and have tunnel vision as far as camp goes.”

Vaught led the Big Ten in shooting percentage for the second consecutive time last season and also averaged 15.5 points and 11.2 rebounds. That made him the first Wolverine to finish the season with a double-double since Roy Tarpley in 1986.

The 59.5% shooting last season enabled the Grand Rapids (Mich.) native to finish his four-year career at 61.7%.

The Clippers begin their seventh season in Los Angeles when training camp opens Friday at Cal Poly Pomona. Charles Smith, Danny Manning and Ken Norman are the main forwards who will be there in addition to Vaught, with a decision on Joe Wolf still to come, possibly as late as that day.

On Sept. 20, Wolf signed an offer sheet with the Denver Nuggets worth a guaranteed $1.8 million over two seasons, with another $200,000 in incentive bonuses and an option year at $1 million also included. The Clippers have until Friday to decide to match or lose him without compensation.

Talks are also continuing with Ron Harper, the other restricted free agent.

Both sides have time, since Harper is not expected back from knee surgery until January. Time is more an issue for the Clippers and Bo Kimble, the No. 8 pick from Loyola Marymount who is also unsigned.
