Supervisors Vote to Study Parking Lot Over Freeway
County supervisors on Tuesday voted to study construction of a double-deck parking structure over the Hollywood Freeway in downtown Los Angeles, just west of the proposed “West Coast Gateway.”
In approving the $350,000 study, supervisors said that construction of the parking lot over the freeway between Grand Avenue and Hill Street would free up a county parking lot for development of a high-rise office.
County officials are looking to lease county parking lots to private developers to raise money to support county operations. Preliminary estimates put the cost of the parking structure at $36 million.
The project requires approval of the state Department of Transportation.
