Jose Sanchez, 27, and Javier Vargas, 20, were treated at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center and later released.
The shooting occurred about 2:30 p.m. Monday on the 1200 block of Cubbon Street, when two men in a gray Chevrolet Monte Carlo pulled up alongside of Sanchez and Vargas, police said.
The victims approached the car and were apparently told to lie face down on the sidewalk, police said.
