Arcadia : Stop Signs Approved

Share

Overruling an engineering study that said stop signs would create hazardous conditions when used as speed controls, the City Council approved a three-way stop at Sierra Madre Boulevard and Elevado Avenue.

About 12 residents told the council that they were concerned with safety and wanted the signs to control speeding motorists. But Joseph R. Lopez, director of public works, said stop signs were not warranted because of light traffic flow and few accidents.

The council approved the signs 4 to 1. Councilman Robert Harbicht voted no.
