A gunman terrorized a group of Inglewood housemates early Wednesday when he forced his way into their home, robbing them and then raping a teen-ager and abducting her to the rugged hillsides of Hacienda Heights, authorities said.
Omar S. Stephens, 22, of Los Angeles was being held without bail at County-USC Medical Center on suspicion of rape, kidnaping, robbery, assault and other charges. He was shot in the leg by officers and suffered bites from a police dog.
Inglewood police spokesman Sgt. Harold Moret said the suspect raped one woman, sexually assaulted another and injured a sheriff’s deputy.
Stephens allegedly robbed two of the house’s occupants as they were walking home at about 2 a.m. on Olive Avenue, then took them at gunpoint to their apartment, where six other people were sleeping.
