American Environmental Management Corp., a company that transports hazardous waste, agreed to pay $20,622 to settle charges that it violated health and safety laws, the district attorney’s office announced.

The lawsuit by county prosecutors alleged that the firm, at 11292 Western Ave., stored several containers of infectious waste longer than 96 hours, the limit under California law.

The containers were to be shipped to a treatment facility for disposal. The alleged violations were found during a routine county health inspection.
