Fund Set Up to Renovate Run-Down Landmarks

Share

The Community Redevelopment Agency established a $325,000 preservation fund Thursday to finance the renovation of the exteriors of historical landmarks on Hollywood Boulevard.

The allocation, which must be approved by the City Council, would provide loans and matching grants to owners of run-down landmarks, primarily along a seven-block stretch of the boulevard in the heart of Hollywood.

The Historic Rehabilitation Assistance Program was created as an incentive for commercial property owners or tenants with leases of 10 years or more, CRA spokesman Charles Sifuentes said. Highest priority would be given to structures designated as Los Angeles historic-cultural monuments, or those on the National Register of Historic Places.
