Edward D. (Ted) Jones Jr., 64, son of the founder of the St. Louis-based Edward D. Jones & Co., who developed the stock brokerage’s one-person branch office system. Jones, who joined the firm in 1948 and managed it from 1968 to 1980, was also an ardent conservationist who devoted his retirement years to establishing and funding the Katy Trail along the Missouri River.
