Missed Putt by Lopez Gives Daniel Win

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Beth Daniel won the $1-million Centel Classic Sunday when Nancy Lopez missed a four-foot putt on the 18th hole that would have forced a playoff.
It was the only bogey of the day for Lopez, who had birdied the 16th and 17th holes to catch Daniel. Lopez shot a 65.
Daniel had three bogeys and six birdies while shooting a final-round 69. Her 72-hole total of 271, 17 under par, barely missed the LPGA’s best showing of the season--Patty Sheehan’s 270 at the Safeco Classic.
Sheehan, who began the final round tied for second with Lopez, shot a 72 and finished at 278.
