SIMI VALLEY : Board Picks Finalist for Superintendent

Share

Simi Valley school board members have agreed on a new superintendent to lead their 18,000-student district, but will not release the name until they visit his workplace today and Thursday.

Simi Valley Unified School District officials declined to release the top candidate’s name until Monday night, when the school board is expected to vote on the matter at district headquarters.

Five men, including Associate Supt. Allan W. Jacobs, were interviewed last week by board members, who discussed the interviews Monday. The names of the other candidates were not released.

Board member Judy Barry said she and board member Ken Ashton will leave today to observe the top candidate at work and to talk with local leaders about him.

Associate Supt. Cathi Vogel has been in charge of Ventura County’s largest school district since Supt. John Duncan left last month to become head of the San Ramon Valley School District. Forty-six people applied for the job, which pays $97,000 a year.
