COLLEGE FOOTBALL REPORT / WEEKDAY UPDATE : UCLA : Brian Brown Upstages Kevin Williams

Share

Last year, redshirt freshman Kevin Williams was projected as the UCLA tailback of the future. He led the team in touchdowns, with six, and in average yards per carry, with 4.5 yards.

However, Williams has been used sparingly this season because of ankle and back injuries, and was not in uniform for last Saturday’s loss to Arizona at the Rose Bowl. Williams has carried the ball in only one game this season, gaining 30 yards in 10 carries and scoring two short-yardage touchdowns during the Bruins’ victory over Stanford.

Brian Brown has emerged as the No. 1 tailback. He averaged 114 yards a game rushing in the games against Washington State and Arizona.
