John Schuerholz, general manager of the Kansas City Royals since 1981, was hired by the Atlanta Braves as executive vice president and general manager.
Schuerholz, 50, replaces Bobby Cox, who will remain as Atlanta’s manager. The Royals picked Spencer (Herk) Robinson, executive vice president in charge of administration, to replace Schuerholz.
