A registered sex offender accused of creeping into children’s bedrooms at night and molesting them was ordered Thursday to stand trial.

Everett Carl Kite, 21, of El Cajon, will stand trial on six counts of molesting three boys and burglarizing four homes in El Cajon.

According to court records, Kite had pleaded guilty Oct. 23, 1989, to kidnapping for purposes of child molestation and molesting a boy.

Kite was sentenced to one year in county jail by San Diego Municipal Judge Timothy Tower and placed on nine years probation.

He also was ordered to register as a sex offender and fined $200, according to records.

Kite was released from County Jail Aug. 4--three weeks before three burglaries in his current case were committed.

Kite, 21, was arrested Aug. 29 when the father of a 4 1/2-year-old boy discovered him in his son’s bedroom and held him until police arrived.

The parents or guardians of the victims testified over a two-day preliminary hearing and said the children were frightened when a man came through their bedroom windows at night.

On Thursday, Municipal Judge Gale Kaneshiro dropped one charge of attempted molestation upon the only female victim, a 4-year-old girl, after no testimony was presented that she had been molested.

None of the children testified because they were all 4 or younger.
