TUSTIN : Annual Tiller Days Event Opens Today
The city will celebrate its agricultural heritage with its 34th annual Tiller Days Festival today, Saturday and Sunday.
The fair begins today at Columbus Tustin Park and will feature musical performances, international food booths, and sales of arts and crafts.
Tonight, longtime local volunteers Rose and Skip Svehla will be crowned as Senior Tillers. They were selected by their peers at the Tustin Senior Center. There will also be a dance contest with music from the 1950s and ‘60s.
Saturday’s activities will begin with a pancake breakfast and a parade from A Street to Holt Avenue along Irvine Boulevard and ending on Beneta Way, and be followed by a Polynesian-themed party Saturday night.
Three-legged races, sack races, an egg toss, Hula-Hoop contests and other games will take place throughout the festival.
The U.S. Marine Corps Band is scheduled to play for the conclusion of the festival on Sunday from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
