ODD COUPLES: Miles Davis and John Lee Hooker--in the same studio? On the same song ? Yes--the brash big-city blues legend and the reclusive jazz wizard are just part of the extraordinary band who got together to record the soundtrack for “The Hot Spot,” Dennis Hopper’s upcoming film noir starring Don Johnson and Virginia Madsen. With Jack Nitzsche and Michael Hoenig at the production helm, the album features Hooker and Davis teamed up with such all-star players as Taj Mahal, drummer Earl Palmer and bassist Tim Drummond. . . . Who was that Poison fan on stage with the hard-rock band for the opening night of its U.S. tour? We’ll give you a hint: The show was in Green Bay, Wisc.--as in the Green Bay Packers. Yup--it was Packers quarterback Don Majkowski, who dueted with Brett Michaels on “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.” . . . A host of local popsters are putting on a benefit concert for Proposition 128 next Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Club Lingerie. Performers will include Peter Case, Julie Christensen, Divine Weeks, the Clay Idols, Downy Mildew and ex-Camper Van Beethoven mainstay David Lowery. Tickets are $12. . . . And Zodiac USA has started what is billed as the nation’s first concert hot line.
