CAMARILLO : Council Approves Antenna Guidelines

Share

A city ordinance limiting the height of amateur radio antennas to 75 feet has been approved by the Camarillo City Council.

The regulation was drafted after residents complained about the appearance of some antennas. The wording of the regulation was modified Wednesday to conform with FCC standards that allow an individual to install radio antennas to provide for constant communications, especially in times of emergency.

The regulations will require the antennas to be located in rear yards and to be enclosed by fences to prevent tampering. Existing ground-mounted antennas will be allowed to remain, although the owner will be required to apply for a building permit within one year.
