A 15-year-old Santa Ana girl was reported in fair condition Monday at UCI Medical Center after being shot in the leg in a Sunday night drive-by shooting in front of a movie theater, authorities said.

The girl, who was not identified because of her age, was struck in the lower left leg as she stood talking with a group of friends in front of the Edwards Cinemas at 12645 Beach Blvd., Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Richard J. Olson said.

Suspects in the 8:50 p.m. incident were described only as three male occupants of a black pickup truck. Olson said the men drove slowly by the group, exchanged harsh words with them and then fired several shots from a pistol.

No one else was injured, although many people were standing in line outside the theaters.

The victim and her friends were not standing in line but were talking outside the theaters while waiting to be let inside, Olson said.

The truck is described as having wide tires with chrome rims and was last seen heading toward the Garden Grove Freeway.
