South Gate : Personnel Officer Becomes 5th City Official to Leave
Gary Bacock, assistant chief administrative and personnel officer for South Gate, will resign effective Friday. Bacock, 39, has been with the city for more than 13 years.
Bacock will become personnel director for the city of Cypress. He said he will earn approximately $63,000 a year, a 5% salary increase over what he is making now, and called the new position an attractive opportunity. Bacock added that he enjoyed working in South Gate and “would miss the city and the people.”
Bacock is the fifth appointed official to leave the city since three new members were elected to the City Council in April. The city attorney and the parks and recreation director accepted positions in other cities; the chief administrator resigned; and the public works director retired.
Bacock’s successor has not been chosen, city officials said.
