Nov. 16 Deadline Set for U.S. Service Academies

High school students and other young people living in the 44th Congressional District have until Nov. 16 to apply for nomination to the United States’ service academies. Applicants must be single and U.S. citizens at least 17 years old but not older than 22 as of next July 1.
The freshman classes at the service academies will begin July 1. Young men and women interested in applying can choose between the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), Merchant Marine Academy, Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy.
Nominations will be submitted by the office of Rep. Jim Bates (D-San Diego). Applicants are asked to call Bates’ office at 287-8851 for details.
