Autopsy Shows Infant Died of Head Injuries
Sheriff’s investigators believe the death last Sunday of a 3-month-old Rosemead boy was a homicide, but have not decided whether it was intentional, authorities said.
Corey Kam Paschal was rushed Saturday evening to Greater El Monte Community Hospital after his parents called sheriff’s deputies to report that the infant was not breathing, a sheriff’s spokesman said. He was later placed on life-support systems at Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles, where he was pronounced dead Sunday.
An autopsy Wednesday indicated that the child died of head injuries, possibly due to shaking, but the investigation is continuing and further medical tests are planned, said sheriff’s homicide investigator Melinda Hearne.
No suspects were in custody.
