Mafalda Elides Arosena; Retired Seamstress

Mafalda Elides Arosena, a retired seamstress who immigrated from Argentina 30 years ago, has died in a Glendale hospital. She was 70.

Mrs. Arosena died Saturday of colon cancer, said her niece, Sylvia De Mattia.

Born Mafalda Elides Chizzini on May 12, 1920, in Santa Fe, Argentina, she came to the United States in 1960. She worked as a seamstress for many years, retiring as a supervisor for the Ocean Co. in Los Angeles in 1985.

She is survived by her sisters, Edelmira De Mattia, Temesvar Chizzini, Mary Vazquez and Ruth Gismero, all of Burbank. Her husband, Juan Alberto Arosena, died in 1967.

A memorial service is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 3801 Scott Road, Burbank. The Neptune Society in Burbank is handling the arrangements. Donations can be made in Mrs. Arosena’s name to the American Cancer Society, San Fernando Valley unit.
