San Antonio Waives Rivers, a Former Laker and Clipper
The San Antonio Spurs have waived guard David Rivers, reducing the team’s roster to 14 players.
Rivers, a former reserve with the Clippers and Lakers, was waived Wednesday after traveling home with the Spurs from an exhibition game in Waco against the Dallas Mavericks.
Rivers averaged 7.3 points in three Spurs exhibition games.
He was a first-round draft choice for the Lakers in 1988 and was claimed by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 1989 expansion draft. Rivers was waived by Minnesota in November, then signed as a free agent by the Clippers.
