Fonda Works Out in Red Square: A jogging Jane Fonda was a big hit in Red Square Thursday. While a Soviet military band played “Stars and Stripes Forever,” Fonda led about 500 cheering Soviet women on a 1.6-mile run around the Kremlin to celebrate physical fitness. Fonda held hands with other runners and joined in group cheers as she led the pack of joggers, who were quite taken with her. Fonda later went to a government television studio to record a program about her life and involvement with aerobics. She came to Moscow with Ted Turner to present “Gone With the Wind” for its first showing in the Soviet Union.
