Weekend’s Weather Will Blow Hot and Cold

A cold front will blow through San Diego today and Saturday, only to be replaced Sunday by a Santa Ana, according to the National Weather Service in San Diego.

The front brings with it a touch of fall--chilly nights, cloudy skies, gusty winds and perhaps a few sprinkles, forecaster Wilbur Shigehara said. The mercury in some inland areas such as El Cajon could dip into the 30s tonight and Saturday. Winds will gust to 25 m.p.h. and up to 30 m.p.h. in the mountains and deserts, he said.

On Thursday, the front was a weak storm dropping rain over the San Francisco Bay area, Shigehara said. It moved into San Diego Thursday night for a brief stay and will move east and dissipate Saturday night. A weak Santa Ana will bring more sunshine and warmer weather on Sunday, but the gusts will persist in the mountains and deserts.

Along the coast, temperatures are expected to rise to 70 to 75 today and Saturday, and increase to 73 to 79 Sunday. Nights will be a chilly 57 to 64 tonight, dropping to 52 to 60 on Saturday and Sunday.

Winds in the mountains will gust up to 30 m.p.h. today and Saturday with temperatures ranging from 63 to 68 and increasing a few degrees on Sunday, Shigehara said. Nighttime temperatures will drop down to 35 to 45 tonight and dip into the 30s on Saturday and Sunday.
