State Adds 5 More Freeway Soundwalls to List

The California Transportation Commission recently added five more freeway soundwalls to the list of 13 already scheduled for construction in Orange County.

In some cases, residents have waited 20 years after their homes were built for the state to approve the soundwalls, which include:

* A $3.9-million soundwall along the Riverside Freeway between East Street and State College Boulevard in Anaheim due in 1994-95.

* A $2.2-million wall on the Orange Freeway between Yorba Linda Boulevard and Rolling Hills Drive in Fullerton also due in 1994-95.

* A $1.6-million wall on the Garden Grove Freeway between Beach Boulevard and Yockey Street in Garden Grove scheduled for 1995-96.

* A $1.8-million wall along the Santa Ana Freeway between Ball Road and Lincoln Avenue in Anaheim slated for 1996-97.

* A $3.1-million wall between the San Gabriel River Freeway and homes on Martha Ann Drive in Rossmoor, where ground will be broken soon.

Of the 13 walls previously given state priority, three are under design by a consultant hired by the Orange County Transportation Commission.
