Superman Wins: Two part-time writers who claimed that actor-writer Christopher Reeve stole their ideas for the “Superman IV” screenplay lost their case Tuesday. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Aurelio Munoz affirmed an arbitrator’s decision in favor of Reeve. However, the decision is expected to be appealed because the lawyer for writers Barry Taff and Kenneth Stoller refused to take part in the arbitration discussions. In the lawsuit, Taff, a parapsychologist and biomedical researcher, and Stoller, a pediatrician, said they submitted a story treatment for “Superman: The Confrontation,” in August, 1985, to Reeve’s agent. They also mailed a copy to Reeve, whose attorney said the actor only looked at the pair’s script once, during a phone conversation with Taff.
