PORT HUENEME : Boy, 14, Arrested in Shooting of Clerk
A 14-year-old Port Hueneme boy has been arrested in connection with the robbery and shooting of a convenience store clerk in August, police said Tuesday.
The boy, reportedly a member of an Oxnard gang, was taken into custody Monday evening after Port Hueneme police received a tip linking him to the crime at the Circle K Food Market in the 200 block of East Pleasant Valley Road.
Police said a youth walked into the store at 3 a.m. Aug. 6, pulled a gun on clerk Floyd DeBat of Camarillo and demanded money.
DeBat said he handed over $50 from the cash register. The robber then ordered DeBat outside, where he shot him in the back.
The boy is being held at Juvenile Hall, police said.
