A 13-year-old girl was raped in Ventura by a man who then followed her home, telling her he hoped she became pregnant, police said Friday.
Jermaine Casey, 20, of Ventura was being held in Ventura County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail on suspicion of rape by force and lewd and lascivious acts with a minor by force, a jail spokesman said.
The rapist followed the girl off a transit bus that stopped at Victoria Avenue and Telephone Road Thursday at about 8 p.m.
He came up behind her, grabbed her, dragged her into some bushes and raped her, Ventura Police Sgt. Roger Nustad said.
The girl started walking the two miles home, with the man following her all the way to the front of her house, Nustad said.
“He said weird things like he hoped she got pregnant and hoped she had a baby,” Nustad said.
When the girl arrived home, she told her mother what had happened and they called police, who found Casey near the house and arrested him, Nustad said.
Nustad said Casey had been arrested on suspicion of rape in Ventura two months ago, but charges were not filed.
