LONG BEACH — More than 60,000 copies of the 1990 edition of KIDSGUIDE, a local youth services directory, are being distributed at all Long Beach and Los Alamitos elementary and middle schools, free of charge, as a PTA community service.
KIDSGUIDE is designed to help parents, teachers, counselors and youth agencies find positive alternatives for children. The directory, now in its third edition and in magazine format, includes updated information on local recreational opportunities, vacation camps, health services, counseling and crisis programs, plus new chapters on child care, school district calendars, reading and tutoring programs. There also are sections translated into Spanish and Cambodian, courtesy of the Josephine S. Gumbiner Foundation.
Parents of middle-school teen-agers received the directory at back-to-school visitations. Parents of elementary school pupils will receive their copies at parent-teacher conferences scheduled Nov. 13 to 21.
For interested parents who do not have children attending Long Beach or Los Alamitos public schools, copies are available for $5. All proceeds benefit PTA student assistance programs. For more information or to receive a copy, call 597-3861.
