Three South Bay artists with strikingly different styles in watercolor will be exhibited for the next three weeks at the city of Torrance’s Joslyn Center of the Arts Gallery.

“Watercolors by: Bonanno, Caviness and Swift” celebrates nature and the human form. The works will be on display from Monday through Nov. 16.

“It’s really nice to have a show that’s beautiful and fresh,” said Barbara Johnson, gallery curator. “So many times, the artist focuses on chaos and all the bad things going on in the world. It’s nice to have that break when you can come in and just focus on the beauty of life.”

Virginia Caviness has had her work shown around the country. Kay Bonanno and Linda Swift have had exhibits in a number of South Bay galleries. The works of the three friends are being shown together for the first time.

Although their styles vary from Bonanno’s representational florals to Caviness’ startlingly realistic table settings, all the works share a strong appreciation of color, light and composition, Johnson said.

A public reception honoring the artists will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

The gallery is at 3320 Civic Center Drive in Torrance, and is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
